There is nothing I love more than walking into a department store to see a beautiful display of statement earrings… until I look at the price tag. Statement jewelry has ALWAYS been my love! As a child I loved big rings, all throughout school I lived for chunky, flashy necklaces & now my obsession is statement earrings. My collection is insane & I love every single piece. I’ve found all the places to get amazing jewels for just a few bucks. If you like a bargain keep scrolling!
There is something for everyone in F21’s accessory department. There are so many styles to choose from! Trendy, basic, bright, bold or classic. Whenever I have an event that I need a new set of earrings for, I always know that Forever 21 won’t disappoint. Their earrings range from $3.80-$7!! How can you even beat that price?
I’ve had a crush on Baublebar jewelry since I was a teenager. It is beautiful but not crazy expensive. Better yet, they recently collaborated with Target to create a new brand called Sugarfix. Some of my favorite earrings are from this brand including the pearl hoops I wore at my wedding reception.
I wouldn’t be surprised if I was on the “People of Walmart” website because I am always there, usually at midnight, looking at their accessories department. NO SHAME! Their earrings are DARLING & ridiculously cheap. Sometimes when they go on sale they can be as inexpensive as $1! The quality isn’t amazing & they will eventually fall apart on you but hey, I’m not complaining. Next time you’re there be brave & venture off to do some shopping. You’ll be surprised what you find!
Send me pictures or tag me in your photos wearing big beautiful earrings!! Also let me know in the comments if you have any favorite places to buy statement jewelry!
I am as sentimental as it gets & heirlooms are the coolest thing to me. When it came to my wedding details, I tried to buy intentionally so that I could pass little items down to my daughters one day. Doing the traditional Old English "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a six pence in her shoe" rhyme was the perfect way to bring even more meaning & love into my wedding. It was HARD for me to think of items for a few of these. Since I did A LOT of brainstorming & research, I thought I would share with you my ideas & what I actually ended up wearing.
That silver "CTR" ring on my pointer finger was a gift Juvol gave me in 2016 right before we said goodbye for two years while we both served church missions. He was in New Zealand for two years teaching about Jesus Christ in the Samoan language. I finished my first semester of college, served a mission in the Caribbean, taught inner city youth & found a job I love. We individually learned so much during those two years. I never took that ring off & never will. It's a reminder to me that if I put the Lord first, Juvol & I will be able to make it through anything.
Other ideas for YOUR something old: a piece of your grandmother's or mother's jewelry, a vintage pair of earrings, a vintage hair accessory like a crown or an old comb, a relative or best friend's wedding dress or veil, an heirloom wedding band/engagement ring or the first piece of jewelry your significant other gave you.
This one is so easy! Find something you love that is uniquely YOU! My "something new" was my wedding dress & my veil. This dress fit my body & my wedding theme so perfectly. I added the sleeves to make it more my style. I love how it gives off a bohemian island vibe while still being classic and timeless. If you mixed Juvol & I in a wedding dress, THIS IS IT! I bought my veil on the same day, at the same shop. I loved the details & the length. It was all so perfect!
Other ideas for YOUR something new: wedding band to add to your engagement ring, new shoes, new earrings or a dainty symbolic necklace.
For my big day I borrowed my mom's pearl bracelet. STORY TIME: a few years ago my mom came to me & my little sister asking if we had taken her pearl bracelet. My dad bought this for her so it's obviously super special. The bracelet was lost & no one knew where it went. As I was planning my wedding day accessories I mentioned to my mom that her little pearl bracelet would've been so perfect. Two days before my wedding she was looking through her jewelry & found it in plain sight. It was a tender mercy & we seriously think a little angel put it there for us. So special!!
Ideas for YOUR something borrowed: a relative or best friend's wedding dress or veil, family jewelry or heirloom accessories.
THIS was the hardest one for me. I didn't want a random blue ribbon on my bouquet or a blue garter because it didn't fit my wedding vibe, or color scheme. My grandma let me look through her mother's old jewelry. I found a pair of blue stud earrings that I was going to pin on the ribbon of my bouquet but then we found this little opal ring. It goes back three generations & I was so honored to wear it.
Ideas for YOUR something blue: A beautiful blue ribbon on your bouquet, a dainty blue gemstone piece of jewelry, a blue pin on your bouquet, a blue sash, a blue clutch or make up bag to bring with you for touch ups, blue shoes, a blue hair comb or a blue anklet.
A Six Pence in Her Shoe
I didn't even know about this part until the night before my wedding. My mom & dad gave me a sweet gift the night before my wedding. It was a jewelry box with a music box inside that plays "You are my Sunshine" when you open it. That is the song my dad used to sing to me & my siblings as he tucked us in for bed when we were little. Inside was this six pence anklet that my mom had custom made for me with a little note that said the original Old English rhyme, "Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and a Sixpence in her Shoe." Apparently the father of the bride is supposed to give his daughter a six pence to keep in her shoe on her wedding day for good luck. Kate Middleton did it, so you should too!

Did you do this any of these your wedding? I'd love to hear all about it in the comments!
1. Do you believe that fashion expresses who we truly are? If so why?
To me fashion isn't personal, it is about other people. It's about designers, industry standards, artwork & trends. Personal style is where fashion gets intimate. Your own personal style is the way you are able to take trends & labels to make them your own. I do think that fashion helps people express themselves. Expression is defined as making known one's thoughts or feelings & when I put together outfits, I love how I look in them & how they make me feel. That right there is expression.
2. What impact have you seen fashion have in people’s lives?
Fashion plays such a big role in confidence. When people look good, they feel good, & their productivity levels sky rocket. However, I am a firm believer that confidence is based on your level of self love. A good outfit doesn't replace genuine love for body, mind & soul.
3. How has fashion impacted your life?
Fashion & personal style has always been a creative outfit for me. I love taking every day basics & making them my own. I also love rocking trendy, off the wall styles. Fashion has helped me express my creativity & has helped me not care what others think of me. My love for fashion has also helped introduce me to other creative fields like photography, graphic design, interior design, social media strategy, content creation & art history. I love experimenting in each of these fields & developing new networks of friends & professional colleges.
4. For those that really take it as expression, for those who feel uncomfortable about it, what words of advice would you have to help others not be afraid or judgmental of fashion and how one expresses themself?
You do you!! You can't live your life trying to make others happy! You are the only one who knows your comfort level, what makes you happy & what makes you feel confident.
2016 was one of the best years of my life. These are some things that I'm planning to continue in 2017 to hopefully make it an equally AMAZING year.
New York Fashion Week has always been a dream of mine and one day I will get there. For now I am roaming Utah State University with the campus sidewalks as my runway. This is a little monochromatic look I threw together. It is so simple yet sophisticated. All of the pieces compliment each other so well! Happy Monday everyone!!!
In honor of NYFW starting I am (finally) sharing my pictures from my day in New York this past June. Follow along this coming week as I share my NYFW inspired outfits that I will be sharing. Have a wonderful Thursday!!
These pictures are from the spring. Yes the SPRING!! That's how far behind I am, but I'm catching up and that is what matters. I love these long sweaters and I'm so glad they will be back in style this fall! I need to stock up for the chilly months. They are the perfect way to layer knitted material without being too bulky. I know we are all living up summer while it lasts, but what are you looking forward too most this winter? Tell me in the comments!!
Dark colors are my jam, especially when it comes to my wardrobe. I love this dark green top because it makes me feel like I have a little bit of color, but it is light and airy enough to wear in the smoldering summer heat.
I moved out of my parent's house yesterday to start my new job that is near the university I will be attending in the fall. I am so excited for the new adventures that are waiting for me down the road. Yet I can't help but reflect on my past 18 years and the many people that have helped me get to this point. Especially my family. I can't wait to see as my life changes, how my style and businesses will evolve with it as well. Stay tuned, and happy Monday!
This post is about a month and a half late, so excuse my tardiness! One highlight from high school that I have loved is getting ready for school dances. It's so fun to come up with new looks and find ways to go out of my comfort zone and explore my personal style. This look is one of my favorites. It was so sleek and simple but yet such a statement. Here is the link to this jumpsuit. It would seriously flatter any body style so if you've wanted to try jumpsuits out in the past, this is a perfect place to start experimenting.
Utah weather is so bipolar! One day it is scorching and the next it is a blizzard. And no... I'm not exaggerating!! I have been in love with blanket scarfs this spring because it is such a temporary layer! I can wear it in the mornings when it is freezing and throw it in my bag during lunch when I am starting to get too hot. Plus, blanket scarves are just adorable in general. Now you have an excuse to buy more!! They are pretty much a wardrobe essential;)
About a month ago when I was in California, I was able to go see the Broadway musical "Wicked." The building was beautiful and the show was amazing! This is the outfit I packed for this event. Gold polka dots and hot pink... Is there a better combo?
I love to dress up but I also cannot resist a loose, comfy and chic tee. I am so in love with these Lula Roe tee shirts. I got mine from Lula Roe Junction. Go order yours now!!
Faux Fur is a classic winter side note to any winter outfit. Whither the fur is connected to a piece of outerwear, a hat or a separate accessory, it is a perfect piece to add to your wardrobe that can be worn winter after winter!
Black is always my winter staple. One thing that I love to add to my all black outfits is hints of sparkle and metallic threading. If you have a holiday party coming up this season, try out adding some subtle sparkle into your outfit!

I am not a big reader, it has never been one of my favorite things. One thing that I always have loved though is children's books. I love looking at all the pictures because I am a visual person. They fascinate me and spark my creativity. I am thankful for the access I have had to books since I was young. They have taught me so much.
My cousin Ruby is collecting 1,000 children's books to donate to a Christian church in Swaziland, Africa. Check out @swaziland_library on Instagram to see how to donate books if you are local to Davis County. She needs $500 to ship the books. If you want to donate to make a difference you can go to the gofundme that has been set up. Make a difference!
Every year at the end of December I try to look back on the events of the previous year to see what has happened in my life. I see who and what have entered my life to make me a better person. I also reflect on the hard things that have made my days a little more difficult. I'm thankful for all of the events, the good and the bad. They help make each year special and each year unique. They make me stronger, more humble, and they teach me how to keep myself happy even in the hard times.
As the new year rolls around instead of making specific new years resolutions I focus on one word that I try to center my year on. I learned this from my amazing drill coach. This year my word to focus on is "renew." If the typical new years resolutions aren't your forte then I challenge you to pick a word for 2016. Have a happy new year!!
I have loved the look of full length overalls since last fall but haven't been able to find a pair that are flattering but a year later, I finally found some! I love the look of them so much. Check out my selection of overalls below and see if there are that you would like. All of them are really unique in their style and under $50.
About a month ago (I know, I'm so behind) my mom and I were at lunch for the baby shower of a friend. After lunch we did some shopping at the gift shops attached to the restaurant. While we were shopping around we ran into this amazing man. The conversation we had started out by him complementing the shoes my mom and I were wearing. We then continued talking about design, culture, art and fashion. I learned so much from this man in only a short 15 minutes. I'm thankful for people like him who take everything in, seeing and analyzing every detail, to be able to see the beauty in everything no matter how small or simple. He also gave me career advice that my mom and I were so impressed with. As I finish up my senior year and enjoy it, I also look forward to the future and the beauties and blessings that my experiences will bring into my life.
This outfit is a perfect transition outfit. I love pairing knitted tops with shorts in the spring and fall seasons because the weather can be so unpredictable. This dalmatian top has been a favorite of mine since last fall. I am obsessed with the print!

These pictures explain all of my current obsessions to a tee:
the unique angles of the human face
Those are the things that are currently my inspiration. Comment and share with me what your inspiration is.
This is the outfit I wore to church on Sunday. I am completely obsessed with this sweater!! It is the softest thing I've ever felt in my life! Every time I talked to someone they asked if they could feel it! They wanted to feel it almost as bad as I wanted to be in New York for fashion week last week. Oh well, maybe it will happen someday. For now I catch up on all the new trends by watching the shows online. I am able to see all of the new hair trends on the TRESsemme YouTube Channel. You can go watch the tutorial for this Side-Swept Bun that was shown at the Marissa Webb show here.
Earrings: Brianna Chamberlain Jewelry | Sweater: Cotton On (similar) | Dress: Cotton On (similar) | Shoes: H&M
To celebrate Labor Day weekend my family went to our little home away from home in Idaho. I posted a video diary about it, click here to watch!! We love spending time at our cabin! I love how casual and relaxing it is. There is no service or wifi (gasp) so we are totally unplugged and forced to carry on a conversation without picking up the social media (just kidding, I promise we aren't that socially awkward). I love it! Now we are back, recharged and ready to get some work in!!
As of late I have been brainstorming some new content ideas for my blog as well as my social media platforms so if you have any requests or questions relating to fashion, beauty, hair, fitness, lifestyle or interior design that you would like to get in please leave a comment here or on any of my social media platforms. I love blogging for me personally but I especially love when I am able to help others or answer questions. Thanks for visiting my little corner of the internet!!
In Utah we are in that awkward stage between seasons where you don't know what to wear. You are freezing when you leave your house in the mornings but it warms up by noon. By 5:00 pm you are dying of heat but when the sun goes down it is back to freezing your buns off. I am in love with this dress because of the pattern play elements it has. I had to wear it one last time before the real fall weather came to town. Until then, wish me luck in this bipolar seasonal transition!

Thank you Plato's Closet in Layton for sponsoring this post.
I love pencil skirts and they have been a staple in my closet since I was in the sixth grade. They are not a very versatile piece but being able to wear them so many different ways makes up for the fact that you can't wear them on every occasion. I love this skirt particular skirt. First, it was ridiculously inexpensive (thank heavens for Forever 21)!! These skirts are young and fun but can also be worn by women of any age!! Now granted in stores there are some short bodycon type skirts that can't be, but these trendy and classic skirts are long and can be worn by anyone of any age, shape or size! Check out my selection of inexpensive skirts below I found!
Another reason I love it is because of the beautifully vibrant cobalt color. An easy hack to make any pencil skirt combo look more creative and planned out is to switch up the traditional colors. Instead of wearing your typical black pencil skirt on the bottom with a colorful top, wear the color on bottom. This is such a simple outfit but I received so many compliments that I am just wanting to get more of these skirts to recreate the outfit!!
Tell me in the comments below what your favorite way to wear a pencil skirt is! Also, I would love to get any requests on how to style a particular article of clothing. You can comment here on my blog or on any of my social media platforms to send in your requests!!
