My Winter Skin Secret - Facial Steaming

Last summer I lived in Atlanta & my skin was THRIVING!! When I came back to Utah right before winter my skin was so dry & everything  I tried could not boost my skin hydration. One day I was listening to this podcast & the host was talking with their guest about a few of the benefits of facial steaming. Later that day I got a facial & the esthetician was talking about how the steam from my facial would help so much with my dry skin. After those two back to back experiences, I went home that night & ordered a facial steamer on Amazon! 

The day the package came I ripped it open & put it to the test. After just a few minutes I felt SO much better! My cracked lips finally plumped up & my face felt so relieved. This device isn't just for people with dry skin. It's really for anyone! You need one if your skin concerns are aging, acne, dehydrated skin or large pores. It clears and clarifies your complexion & helps to soothe & soften skin. I like to do it on my neck too. Never neglect your neck!!

I try to steam once a week at least!! It's a great step to do before & after masking. Before exfoliation, or before you apply your skincare morning or night. If I have an extra 10-15 minutes in the morning I will try to squeeze it in but I usually do it at night. I also love pairing it with gua sha.

Another WEIRD benefit I've found is that it helps the skin inside my nose. My lips & the inside of my nose get SO dry & the facial steamer totally works as a humidifier too. Talk about multi-tasking!! 

Recommendations from Nordstrom are to turn on the device and steam for up to nine minutes. For dry, dehydrated skin, use for 8-12 minutes. For combination skin, use for 12-15 minutes. For oily skin, use for 15-20 minutes. 

There are so many high tech steamers that are probably amazing & so worth the money but I recommend trying out an inexpensive one first. See if you have the discipline to really use it in your routine. I have THIS adorable pink one that was so inexpensive but after it gives out, I will definitely upgrade!!
