I wore this dress (a thrift store find.. holla!) to my first college class. The night before I realized that I had nothing fun to wear so I pulled together my pennies to find a few "back to school" outfits. I found this cute little dress. It is so fun to look at because of the simple, feminine color combination mixed with the trendy Aztec print. The loose silhouette paired with my leather flats add a bohemian vibe that assist in creating this feminine, yet effortless look.
I have always swooned over freshly cut flowers. It makes me so happy seeing fresh flowers. Not only in my living space, but also incorporated in artwork and photography. They are just so beautiful. My mom has an insane rose garden in the little courtyard in front of her home. I came home to visit last weekend and the second I saw the vibrant display of roses my heart was so happy.
Another thing that makes me happy is all black outfits!! but that isn't news to anyone... especially my to those of you who have been my readers since the beginning. I am obsessing over my new JORD watch. Not only is is BEAUTIFUL and black (my all time favorite wardrobe color) but it is a wood watch. Whenever I wear metal watches a couple days in a row I develop little bumps on my wrist. They itch and get red and sometimes scar! I love this wooden watch because I'm able to wear it everyday without worrying about harming my skin.

Sometimes less is more...
This is something that my mom always said to me growing up. That quote has helped me balance out more than just my daily outfits. It has helped me balance out my life as well. I am a perfectionist and slightly OCD. I like everything to have a plan. I like everything to be picture perfect. NOW OBVIOUSLY that is not real life. Nothing goes as planned and life is far from picture perfect. Just because something isn't perfect though, doesn't mean that is can't be beautiful or of amazing quality. Flaws are beautiful, simplicity is beautiful.
Now I'm starting to realize, this post doesn't really have a purpose... and that's okay. So as I end my little ramble, join me in my goal to spend the next week making the things around me more simple, beautiful, and happy. Even if it's tweaking little moments in your day. I hope everyone had a great Monday, and I wish you all a wonderful week!!
Last weekend After work I went to join my dad and siblings at our cabin in Idaho. It was a blast! I love spending time with them. While I was there, so many people asked to see my ring (the Native American coin ring that has been on my Instagram a few times.) It is such a beautiful and unique piece of jewelry. Here is the link if you want to add it to your collection!
I don't know if you feel the same way but there are certain songs that make it feel like summer. Especially this summer where I have moved out of my parents house (sniff, sniff, all grown up.) These songs help me feel happy yet at home. My list of favorite songs is always changing but this is my list of summer classics:
This Love - Maroon 5
Fun. Album (yes the whole album)
She's Everything - Brad Paisley
Up! - Shania Twain
Something Like That - Tim McGraw
Makeout Album - LANY (heart eyes to EVERY. SONG.)
Rather Be - Clean Bandit
That's How Your Love Makes Me Feel - Diamond Rio
It is the nature of life to experience hardship and come out a more refined person with a broader perspective. Through the events of my life, I quickly learned how to be sensitive to the needs of others, and this is a quality I have been proud of since I was just a little girl. I think that it is so important to look for the needs of others and make an effort in any way we can to help them. Sometimes I will see people at the grocery store or even at school and I will get a prompting to ask if they need help, or even something as simple as give them a genuine compliment to brighten their day. Most of the time it is accepted well but sometimes it isn't... AND THAT IS OKAY!! I've learned that I would rather be shot down trying to make the world a better place than not having the courage to do a kind deed.
However, most of the time I find that the acts of service that means the most is when I serve those who I already have a relationship with. Wither it is serving my family, close friends or even just a friendly acquaintance. I know that it means the most to me personally when I see those around me thinking about me, even it it's "just because" and not serving me for a particular reason.
My favorite thing to do is so simple but it can totally turn someone's day around! I like to shoot them a text, direct message or sent a quick card in the mail or on their door step. I love these cards from Selectionby. They are the cutest, minimalist cards and so affordable too. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture to brighten someone's day.
